back-handed compliment

this man fought for freedoms HE didn't even have in 1944 when he served in the segregated military. back then, enlisting didn't mean you were part of the army of one, there was an army of two: blacks and whites. one night an italian pow was found dead. 41 black guys were charged and found guilty of hanging the italian pow (lucky bastard didn't have to go to gitmo back then). the guys were under-respresented and obviously found guilty. mr. samuel snow was sent up on a 15 month-bid for his non-existent role in the death of the italian. 63 years after this incident that shaped the rest of this guys life, the army made up for their mistake by sending him a $725 check. yes. seven hundred and twenty-five dollars, 63 years late, for wrongfully sending someone to 15 months in prison, and obviously ruining his life in the process.
