new low for clinton

jesus christ. this is literally off the rove 2000 playbook when he sent out pics of mccains bengali daughter and said he'd sired a black child out of wedlock. and this after her campaign accused obama of running a rove-styled campaign? jesus hillary. if the democratic party doesn't come out and vilify you for this, and the veiled racism in publishing this photo, i am turning republican. i mean that.

i'm seeing body after body

there are bodies everywhere in kenya now. the ugnadan army has reportedly massed along the western border of the country, and is running operations within kenya at night. police have turned hoses on citizens of kenya in nairobi. kibaki meanwhile, remains 'jovial' according to the bbc, despite the fact that the chairman of the electoral commision told western and local media that he does not know who won the election.

cry the beloved country

well, kenya has officially descended into one of those unbelievable states. in less than a week, kenya has been reduced from a model of stability for the continent, to just another ridiculous african nation, with horrible scenes and stories of violence, which can only be obtained from independent bloggers, as the goverrnment has shut down the nations' live media. how soon before isp's begin to go down? this is seriously terrifying. i don't know what raila is thinking asking for his 'million man march' in nairobi, but i can only imagine half those guys showing up with machetes, kerosene, rocks and tires. these guys need to reconcile this thing really quickly before more than the estimated 200 dead, are lost.

gusa serikali uone (google the phrase)

familiar scenes in nairobi, as allegations of election fraud have began to surface. raila's slim lead over old man kibaki (also called emilio-who knew?) has evaporated, and it seems like we may really be headed to a florida-like situation. the country, however, has spoken out loudly against emilio's governance, as a huge percentage of his ministers have suffered heavy losses, begining with his vice president, moody. this seems to lend credence to the fact that emilio himself may be on his way out. we will soon see. predictions of a bloodless election obviously failed to factor in the fact that (as di caprio would say) 't-i-a, this is africa.' evidently, people in kibera (one of the largest slums in the world, found right in the back yard of state house, the presidential palace in nairobi) are running around with machetes, waiting to erupt, rwanda-style, if their hummer driving mp raila is not pronounced president (as though much would change for them whomever becomes president). anyways, another day in africa. the americans are saying that the election went about as well as could have been expected. guess they're just using their own high standards, reflected by their recent history.

as the world turns.....

by now every one knows bhutto is dead. evidently nobody knows how, though. pakistani officials have already advanced three different causes of death, giving the grassy knoll gunman heady competition in the 'crazy assasination' stakes. more importantly, as this 'democracy' crumbles right before us, another thrives in a non-western region. raila appears to be leading kibaki by about 250 thousand votes with about half the votes counted. kalonzo is out of it, at 3 million votes behind both guys. too bad neither of them took a hummer truck to one of the poorest slums on the planet during their campaigns! kenya appears to have held a second transparent election, and the world outght to be celebrating this marvel. south saharan africa is not known for this kind of thing, but perhaps a few people in florida may have something to learn from a kenyan election. tomorrow we see what happens, and we hope that it does not come down to hanging or dimpled chads.

thanks, mushar-fuck.

closing out the year, musharraf made sure to put an end to his one political nemesis, benazir bhutto, one of the most widely respected politicicans in the world. she'd lived in exile for years because of this crazy fuck, then returned recently to pakistan after brokering with musharraf to return there in a power-sharing deal. of course, ON THE WAY TO HER HOME, having just touched down in pakistan after twelve years away, her convoy was bombed, leaving 138 people dead. musharraf then quickly placed her under house arrest before promptly declaring a state of emergency. i hope the world forces this guy to face his just due. fuck you musharraf, for robbing the world of her. i don't want to hear your empty condolences and promises to 'bring the killers to justice.' in one of her final public statements, while critcizing efforts to find the perpetrators of her failed assasination in october, she had the moral fiber and fortitude to grant mushar-fuck a pass on any culpability in the attack. evidently, that just wasn't enough for him, and he had to see the job through.

back-handed compliment

this man fought for freedoms HE didn't even have in 1944 when he served in the segregated military. back then, enlisting didn't mean you were part of the army of one, there was an army of two: blacks and whites. one night an italian pow was found dead. 41 black guys were charged and found guilty of hanging the italian pow (lucky bastard didn't have to go to gitmo back then). the guys were under-respresented and obviously found guilty. mr. samuel snow was sent up on a 15 month-bid for his non-existent role in the death of the italian. 63 years after this incident that shaped the rest of this guys life, the army made up for their mistake by sending him a $725 check. yes. seven hundred and twenty-five dollars, 63 years late, for wrongfully sending someone to 15 months in prison, and obviously ruining his life in the process.
